Rotor Lab
Science made easy, science made fun!

Welcome to Rotor Lab

At ROTOR LAB KIDS, I am a Mum and a Scientist who is on a mission to introduce young children to science, to stoke their curiosity and help them on their wonderful journey of exploration. I use simple, easy-to-understand experiments and stories to introduce little minds to the world of science. I introduce STEAM activities through storytelling; where children have the opportunity to explore nature and learn about the everyday things that surround them - with a brand new scientific outlook. Find out more about what we do at Rotor Lab Kids here, about the books I write, here.

See how your little ones can turn into little scientists!

Calling All Little Scientists

Little Scientists At Work

Workshops - The How and What

Microscopic City

Microscopic City

What We Do There is a lot going on in the microscopic world– The microbes produce food, clean the spills, make medicines, enrich our environment and you'll also find some villains. Creatively, we engage the little scientists to think about bacteria, fungi and viruses differently; not just as dangerous but also as friendly. They can experience the way microbes are part of our daily lives and an important one at that!

Learning for the Child Logical thinking, Information processing, Gross motor and fine motor skills, Teamwork, Cause-effect analysis

Age Group 4 -8 years old

Available Dates and Times TBC

Lights On! With Fruits and Vegetables

Lights On! With Fruits and Vegetables

What We Do How do we light a bulb using bioenergy? On this day we will learn all about the different forms of electricity. Which fruit or vegetable produces more electricity? Are fruits better than vegetables? We also discuss how we use electricity everyday all around us!

Learning for the Child Problem solving, observational, critical and analytical thinking, fine motor skills, visualisation of abstract concepts, better understanding of everyday surroundings

Age Group 4 - 8 years old

Dates available Saturday, 22nd October 2022: 10.00-12.00 OR 14.00-16.00 Sunday 23rd October 2022: 10.00-12.00 OR 14.00-16.00

The Great Insect Rescue

The Great Insect Rescue

What We Do Seven out of ten animals on our planet are insects. They sting us, buzz and bother us, but they are also important to keep the balance in nature. Unfortunately a lot of insects are disappearing; we explore ways to rescue them.

Learning for the Child Role-playing, imaginative play, Hand-Eye Co-ordination, Analytical and Logical Thinking, Idea development

Age Group 4 - 8 years old

Dates Available Saturday 26th March 2022: 10.00-12.00 OR 14.00-16.00 Sunday, 27th March 2022: 10.00-12.00 OR 14.00-16.00

Be a Race Engineer for a Day!

Be a Race Engineer for a Day!

Coming Soon Version 2.0 will be announced shortly, with an added component of programming using Lego Boost! Watch this space...

What we do The little scientists become engineers and learn all about fast speedy race cars. They will build their own cars to test how the shape and weight of the car influences their speed. They will discover how the slopes of the racetrack/roads affect the speed of the car.

Learning for the Child Problem-solving; analytical thinking, gross and fine motor-skill development; imaginative and creative group play

Age Group 4 - 8 year old

Dates Available Saturday 21st May 2022: 10.00-12.00 OR 14.00-16.00 Sunday, 22nd May 2022: 10.00-12.00 OR 14.00-16.00

What is really in your food?

What is really in your food?

What we do On this day the little scientists will discover all about the sugars and vitamins in their food. They will test different fruits and their juices to find out the Vitamin C and the sugar content in them. Through fun experiments, they will see how Vitamin C is so important for our bodies and why we should eat only a “little bit” of sweets and treats to stay healthy.

Learning for the Child Analytical and scientific thinking, fine motor skills, problem solving, visual learning of action-reaction

Age Group 4 - 8 years old

Dates Available Saturday 24th September 2022: 10.00-12.00 OR 14.00-16.00 Sunday, 25th September 2022: 10.00-12.00 OR 14.00-16.00

Coming Soon We will get more hands-on with the food in our food lab! Watch this space for more exciting activities on the food theme!

How to be a Detective!

How to be a Detective!

What We Do The little scientists will spot clues using UV light, look for fingerprints, and send Morse code messages to help find all the clues to solve the mystery just like a real forensic detective!

Learning for the Child Problem solving, analytical thinking, logical thinking, gross motor skills and imaginative and creative play

Age Group 4 - 8 years old

Available Dates and Time 23.10.2021 OR 24.10.2021 10.00-12.00 OR 14.00-16.00

Twinke, Twinkle Little Star

Twinke, Twinkle Little Star

What We Do The little scientists will travel to the space with us to discover the wonders of the solar system. They will come back to our planet Earth to explore the difference in skies above the northern and southern hemispheres!

Learning for the Child Understanding the Environment, Logical Thinking, Imaginative play,

Age Group 4-8 years old

Available Dates and Times TBC

Sensory Day

Sensory Day

What We Do On this day, the little scientists explore their senses, sometimes by not using them or using them differently. They look at how all our five senses are connected through our brains.

Learning for the Child Sensory activities to stimulate the five senses, analytical and problem solving, creative experience in creating essential oils

Age Group 4 - 8 years old

The Dance of Light and Shadows

The Dance of Light and Shadows

What We Do On this day the little scientists will split light into a rainbow and make light dance in different ways to trick their eyes!

Learning for the Child Nature of light and shadows, critical analysis, questioning, gross motor skills and creative play

Age Group 4 - 8 years old

The Sound of Music

The Sound of Music

What We Do The little scientists will explore how sound is a wave. They will make and test different traditional and electronic musical instruments to see where and how they get their characteristic sounds.
